Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer / Azure Engineer with a deep understanding of network design, security, and cloud technologies.
This role will focus on creating secure network designs, identifying and resolving potential security issues, and developing disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure infrastructure resilience.
The ideal candidate is proactive, has strong analytical skills, and can act as an escalation point for advanced issues, providing mentorship to the service desk team.
Key Responsibilities: Network Design & Architecture : Design, implement, and document network architectures that ensure security, scalability, and high performance.
Draw and maintain detailed network diagrams to support client infrastructure and future growth.
Security Awareness & Incident Response : Monitor network traffic and quickly identify errors or irregularities indicative of a security breach.
Conduct initial analyses of network anomalies, collaborate with security teams, and implement corrective actions to safeguard data integrity.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity : Develop and implement disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) strategies to minimize downtime and data loss.
Regularly test and update DR/BC plans to align with evolving business and technical requirements.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting : Triage and resolve complex network and cloud support requests, acting as a Level 2 escalation resource.
Use diagnostic tools and a proactive approach to address technical issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
Cloud Infrastructure Management : Administer and support cloud environments, focusing on Azure Dev Ops, security configurations, and server management.
Implement best practices for data security, access control, and performance optimization in hybrid environments.
Automation & Scripting : Utilize Power Shell scripting and other automation tools to streamline workflows, reduce repetitive tasks, and enhance system efficiency.
Project Execution & Documentation : Lead or contribute to infrastructure and cloud-related projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
Document processes, network designs, and configurations in Knowledge Base and IT Glue.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing : Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to Service Desk Engineers.
Create Knowledge Base articles and share insights on emerging technologies to help elevate the technical skills of the team.
Ongoing Certification & Industry Standards Compliance : Stay current with relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, ITIL, Azure) and apply industry best practices to all aspects of network and cloud engineering.
Requirements Qualifications: ITIL Foundations Certification (or higher).
Microsoft Certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Azure Security Engineer).
Security and network certifications (e.g., Comp TIA Security+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent).
Experience: 10+ years in technical support, service desk, or network engineering roles with a strong focus on network and cloud security.
Proven experience in cloud environments, especially Azure, and AWS.
Expertise in network design, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security management.
Technical Knowledge: Proficient in Windows Server (2003 – 2022) and Active Directory setup, including domain upgrades.
Skilled in virtualization technologies: Hyper-V, VMware, and v Sphere.
Extensive knowledge of network design principles, including firewall configuration, SD-WAN, wireless technologies, and disaster recovery planning.
Understanding of network security protocols, monitoring tools, and response strategies for potential security breaches.
Strong scripting/automation skills using Power Shell to automate network and system processes.
Familiar with patch management solutions (e.g., SCCM, Ansible) and RMM tools (e.g., Datto).
Knowledge of Datto RMM, Sophos, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquity, and other network and security tools.
Familiarity with hyperconverged infrastructure, virtual data center solutions (e.g., NSX, Azure Stack), and Vo IP technologies.
Preferred Skills: Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
Demonstrated ability to analyze network traffic and detect security anomalies.
Strong communication and mentoring skills with experience training technical staff.
