Job Description The Role: Operations Research & Optimization Engineer What You’ll do Work with our clients and partners in building, evaluating and operationalizing optimization models in production settings. These models will be used as part of planning and real-time solutions for logistics, marketing and operations optimization in different industries such as retail, aviation, banking, telecommunications and healthcare.  You’ll also work with our asset and product development teams to develop and tune models that could be for certain customers, and to help operationalize the models in production settings. Finally, we are looking for creative thinkers to help us innovate as we design and implement new and relevant features for our customers and in our products. One of the key focus areas is how we can enhance the value of optimization with the help of data and predictive analytics, and more importantly, how we can offer real-time optimization capabilities that can take advantage of streaming data. Part of your job responsibilities include taking leadership in developing algorithms, heuristics and software architectures on how we can marry the worlds of optimization, Big Data, AI and machine learning.  Requirements Basic Qualifications Advanced Degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or similar technical field from a top university Experience designing and implementing optimization models for discrete optimization problems (e.g., vehicle routing, graph theory, multi-commodity flows, real-time scheduling) and experience with leveraging such models to provide guidance for strategic and tactical business decision making. Good understanding of Linear and Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) numerical programming techniques to leverage commercial or open source algorithms and adapt them as required. A working knowledge of smooth and non-smooth optimization methods accompanied by associated expertise in the use of tools and technology (e.g. CPLEX, R, Gurobi, XPRESS, Google OR-tools, COIN-OR, Optaplanner, Anaplan). Hands on experience in at least one language, preferably Python and/or Java Understanding of basic software engineering design and development principles Good presentation and communication skills, and ability to interact with customers Preferred Qualifications Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases Experience working in cloud environments (like AWS) Knowledge of statistical and machine learning packages, especially in Python, and experience using notebooks Experience in retail, logistics, aviation, telecommunications, or banking domains Benefits We provide a competitive salary and benefits package, a vibrant work environment, and numerous opportunities for professional growth. Good software engineering experience with Python Experience in deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow or PyTorch) Experience with NLP models, frameworks, and libraries (Hugging Face, spaCy Haystack, etc) Experience with building applications with LLMs including techniques such as prompt engineering, chaining, agents, function calls.
