This role is posted in the Philippines. The position is based in the Bahamas. Our client is seeking an experienced marine engineer from the Philippines and will provide sponsorship and arrange a work permit for the Bahamas.
The Role
You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, servicing, and reliability of both vessels, ensuring they remain fully operational, safe, and ready for use at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
Managing service schedules, logs, and maintenance records
Ensuring all systems are operating efficiently and safely
Liaising with owners, captains, and suppliers where required
Supporting general upkeep and readiness of both vessels
About You
We are looking for someone who is practical, self-sufficient, and comfortable working independently in a Caribbean setting.
You will ideally have:
Proven experience working on vessels in the 40ft–70ft range
Strong technical knowledge across marine diesel engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Experience with both inboard and outboard engine configurations
A proactive approach to maintenance, with the ability to identify and resolve issues early
High attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and reliability
Good communication skills when dealing with owners and stakeholders
Technical Expertise
Strong working knowledge of:
Electrical and hydraulic systems
Fuel, cooling, and bilge systems
Fault finding and diagnostics
Preventative maintenance systems and record keeping
Qualifications & Certifications
Marine Engineering qualification (preferred, not essential for highly experienced candidates)
STCW Basic Safety Training
Additional technical certifications in engines or electrical systems are advantageous
