The Job: The Senior Tableau Developer will be responsible for the creation of the Tableau dashboard for The Japan Research Institute Tokyo (IT Department) such as Project Management, Project Status & Analysis, Incident Management, Workforce Empowerment etc.
The role will also support the Tableau technical issues and/or queries from the Tokyo head office.
Other Responsibilities: Development: Design and develop interactive Tableau dashboards and reports for operational data.
Build advanced visualizations using calculations, Tableau LOD (level of detail) standard expressions, parameters, and dashboard actions and ensure dashboards are user-friendly, scalable, and aligned with business requirements Reporting: Develop reports for key metrics.
Support regulatory and compliance reporting and ensure audit-ready dashboards with proper documentation and traceability.
Data Integration & Modeling: Work with data engineers and analysts to source, clean, and transform data.
Design and maintain optimized data models and create and manage Tableau data sources, extracts, and live connections.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve dashboard performance (load times, query efficiency).
Apply Tableau best practices for large datasets and complex calculations and troubleshoot data and performance issues.
Data Quality and Governance: Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reports.
Follow data governance standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices and implement row-level security and access controls where required.
Code Quality and Best Practices: Champion the use of coding best practices, automated testing and continuous integration, enforce code standards, documentation practices and maintainability.
Collaboration: Gather and analyze requirements from stakeholders.
Translate complex data into actionable insights and present dashboards and findings to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest development trends, technologies and best practices.
Propose improvements to the development lifecycle and drive initiatives for automation, efficiency and quality.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Take ownership of complex issues and guide the team through identifying, diagnosing and resolving technical challenges.
