About the role At Orica, we are transforming Global Learning, which includes launching a refreshed approach to learning design, development, and delivery.
We have also reorganised our team to ensure we can deliver maximum value and impact to our business.
We are currently seeking an experienced Learning and Development Designer to join our Learning Solutions Team.
In this vital role, the individual will be responsible for leading key learning design and development projects, ensuring the creation of effective and engaging learning solutions that meet the needs of our diverse workforce.
In some cases, they will partner with and support our vendors and external teams for the design and development of learning content.

What you will be doing Building breakthrough innovative learning solutions.
Analyse learning needs to effectively determine solutions that address knowledge and/or performance gaps for learners.
Oversee and lead the design, development, and maintenance of engaging learning solutions from start to finish in your assigned portfolio.
These solutions will include both online and offline formats.
Collaborate with the Learning Partnering Team to define the design, engagement, and experience scope, including prototypes and showcasing interim solutions.
Propose instructional design options for learning solutions that allow for rapid development and effective learner engagement.
Develop storyboards as initial blueprints for learning solutions to be showcased to learning partners and stakeholders.
Apply advanced adult learning theories to create practical, application-based learning solutions that are rich in experience and engagement.
Use appropriate tools and delivery methods to produce blended learning solutions that promote learning through self-study, practice, performance support, socialization, and knowledge-sharing.
Conduct needs analysis to design and develop high-quality, accessible, and scalable learning solutions for multiple modalities and a global learner base.
Utilize various design and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate & Captivate) to create interactive elements and videos that enhance the learning experience.
Create and share best practices in instructional design and development with peers.
Collaborate with external providers engaged in developing learning solutions.
Design and develop learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, including cultural differences that may apply.
What you will bring A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or a related field, with human-centered and blended learning approaches.
Bachelor’s degree in design, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Organizational Psychology, or a related field (Preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing learning solutions that address various skill and knowledge gaps.
Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating effectively with stakeholders and learning partners.
Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following tools: Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Creative Suite (In Design, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and related SCORM or Tin Can compliant production tools.
Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learning technologies (e.g., e Learning, virtual classrooms, LMS, AR, VR, Generative AI, AI).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to think strategically and creatively.
Strong project management skills and experience, including managing internal stakeholders and external agencies, and multiple global and local projects at once.
Conceptual and intuitive understanding of how people learn.
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and able to manage priorities well.
Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow timeframes.
Be capable of imagining oneself as the learner/audience member.
Have strong communication skills, be punctual, a self-starter, a team player, and be able to support and meet deliverables.
