Job Title: Senior Video Editor (Documentary & Short-Form Social Content)Location: Remote Role Type: Full-Time (60 hours/week, 6 days)Working Hours: 4 PM - 2 AM (+8 GMT), Monday to Saturday
Who Are We?
At Reef, we connect elite commercial talent with high-growth companies building world-class operational teams. We work exclusively with the top 3% of candidates and match you with established companies across Australia, New Zealand, the US, and UK who invest seriously in their business infrastructure.
We support your integration into these companies by providing you with additional training, admin/HR support, and adding you to our community of high-level professionals.
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Video Editor to join a US-based media company producing conservative, news-focused content on immigration, border security, crime, and national security. This role focuses on cinematic long‑form documentary content (10-45+ minutes) alongside short‑form social clips cut from the same material for You Tube, X, Tik Tok, Instagram, and Facebook.
You'll work directly with producers on scripted, voiceover‑driven narrative content, owning the edit from raw footage through to published asset across both formats. The production team provides scripts, sourced footage, and clear briefs; you bring the storytelling instinct and technical craft to turn that material into finished, emotionally engaging content.
What Success Looks Like
Delivering every assigned edit on or before deadline within two revision rounds, maintaining a cinematic and journalistic tone across both long‑form and short‑form output, and producing content that holds viewer attention through strong narrative structure, pacing, and platform‑specific optimisation. By month three, you'll be hitting 70%+ first‑submission sign‑off and anticipating recurring feedback before submission.
This role suits editors who take genuine pride in craft, have real documentary or narrative editing samples to show, and want the stability of a full‑time seat rather than project‑based work.
Qualifications & Responsibilities

5+ years hands‑on experience editing narrative, documentary, or long‑form content

Strong instincts for pacing, hook structure, and emotional storytelling
Confident with audio mixing, colour correction, B‑roll integration, sound design, and subtitle formatting
Understanding of platform‑specific requirements (aspect ratios, opening seconds, caption styles) for Reels, Shorts, and Tik Tok
Ability to self‑manage technical issues and file organisation via Google Drive or Dropbox
Availability for 60 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, with US daytime overlap
Responsiveness on Slack within 15-30 minutes during working hours
Fast and reliable internet connection; your own laptop or desktop suitable for the role; a quiet working environment; a good quality microphone or headset
